Detailed description of Coyote Run Golf Course, CLOSED 2021

Coyote Run Golf Course, formerly known as Recce Point Golf Club is an 18 hole military golf course located at Beal AFB near the town of Marysville, California.

Coyote Run first opened for play in 1959. The course, added a back nine in 1998 that was designed by Ronald Fream.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 7,824 yards. From the forward tees the course plays to 4,600 yards. The longest hole on the course is #18, a par-5 that plays to 553 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 179 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 12, the 444 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Coyote Run Golf Course is # 5, the par-3 that measures 179 yards from the tips.

The course has many trees that can affect your shots, and a beautiful lake coming into play on a few holes. The many narrow fairways, plus the elevated greens make for a higher level of competition. The course is for military personnel and authorized civilians and their guests. It is also open to the public at certain advertised times.

The course closed on March 31, 2021.

"Prarie" course with quiet, wildlife and some difficulty. Greens are only fair, and fairways are a bit rough. Nice place for a solitary round.

Would travel: 60-120 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better courses for less nearby, Worse than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

It is a military course, but civilians can get on base to play either as a guest or other programs with the base. The courses greens are uneven with speed of the greens and the fairways a little rough, but overall a very good track and enjoyable to play. Lots of wildlife and from the tips is a good test of golf. You will need all your thoughts and shots.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Recee Point, has been renamed to Coyote Run GC, and is under a new manager. His expertice and management is apparent in the many improvements on the course. The Pro Shop staff are friendly and accomidating. It is a friendly environment, that provides a game that will use most of the clubs in your bag. The course remains in playable condition almost all year round, which is a plus to us local golfers.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Ranks with the best in this price level, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Recce Point is a super bargain California golf course. It has a nice layout and pretty views of the Sierra Butts. The course is built on open land that is not surrounded by housing or other buildings. When it was a 9 hole course, it was one of my favorite 9 hole courses because it played like an 18 hole course. The addition of the 9 new holes is just more of a good thing. When I played this course last summer, the conditions were both hot and dry, yet the course was in remarkably good shape. The pro asked if he could pair up with me as it was a slow day, accordingly the pace of play was great. This course has a bit of everthing, narrow fairways, wide open fairways, water, elevated greens, trees, bunkers, and opps, a rattle snake or two, be careful on the back 9. This is certainly a nice course that would rank very well with most nice muni-courses and was a great value for $20 including the cart. I try to play this course whenever I am in the area.
